Drug Information:
Flurbiprofen is in a group of drugs called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Flurbiprofen works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body. Flurbiprofen ophthalmic (for the eye) is used to prevent your pupil from constricting, or narrowing, during eye surgery. Flurbiprofen ophthalmic may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide. You should not use this medication if you are allergic to flurbiprofen. Before you receive flurbiprofen ophthalmic, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any medications, or if you have a bleeding or blood-clotting disorder or take a blood thinner such as warfarin (Coumadin).   • Eye irritation or redness
  • increased sensitivity of the eyes to light
  • red or bloodshot eye

Some side effects of flurbiprofen ophthalmic may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Ocular

Very common (10% or more): Eye irritation, eye pain, hyphema

Frequency not reported: Transient burning/stinging upon instillation, fibrosis, miosis, increased bleeding tendency of ocular tissues in conjunction with ocular surgery

Postmarketing reports: Eye hemorrhage, mydriasis (prolonged mydriasis), ocular hyperemia

Hypersensitivity
